Varsity Hockey Suffers First Loss of the Season
Date: 11/29/2018

Returning from Thanksgiving break, Cardigan Varsity hockey traveled to Tilton School for their first away game of the season. After a good start to the season, the Cougars were able to test themselves against a familiar opponent from the Lakes region. After the school break, it took the Cougars a while to get into the game. A little tentative and "rusty," the Cougars were not able to attack with the same speed they are accustomed to.

The boys in green came out stronger in the second period, putting pressure on Ram's goalie but came out empty. On the other end, Adam Becht ‘19 made a couple of key saves to keep the Cougars in the game.

The third period started like the first, the Rams mesmerized the Cougars but Becht made the saves Cardigan needed!  With less than a minute to go, Kyle Murray-Smith ‘20 tied the game, but the Rams regrouped quickly. With 23 seconds left in the game, the Cougars turned the puck over giving the Rams a prime scoring opportunity, which they capitalized on. A few seconds later the Rams added an insurance goal finalizing the score at 3-1.

Cardigan suffered their first loss of the year! On to Westy, Salisbury and Berkshire!
