Varsity Basketball Faces Off in Annual CMS Jamboree
Date: 12/04/2018

Varsity Basketball had a busy opening weekend with back to back jamborees at home and at Eaglebrook.  On Saturday, the Cougars hosted Tilton, Proctor, and New Hampton in their annual jamboree. In their first game against Tilton, a fired up Cougar squad eager to play jumped out to an early lead, with Ben Baroni ‘19 draining a pair of early 3’s and Sam Harris ‘19 adding another from long range.  In the first half, the Cougars found lots of open opportunities against Tilton’s zone. Alijah Lovelace added 12 of his 18 points in the first half.

In the second half, Tilton came out stronger, chipping away at the lead. The Cougars struggled more against the man to man coverage, but they hung on to the lead 44-40.

In the Finals match against Proctor, Cardigan played tight defense in the first half, holding Proctor to 10 points to Cardigan’s 17.  The second half, Proctor quickly cut the lead, making it a tight game right until the final minute. Proctor’s press caused several Cougar turnovers and Cardigan fell victim to some unfortunate fouls paving the way for Proctor to seal the lead winning 35-41.
