Varsity Basketball Competes in Eaglebrook Tournament
Date: 12/02/2018

On Sunday morning, the Varsity Basketball team hopped in the van and traveled down to Eaglebrook for their opening season jamboree.  The Cougars faced perennial powerhouse Rectory in the opening match. Rectory held the lead for most of the game with the Cougars pulling close several times but not having enough gas in the tank to go on a much needed scoring streak.  Alijah Lovelace ‘19 scored 11 points, AJ Lesburt ‘19 had 10 points, Ben Baroni ‘19 added 8 points, Gannon Peters ‘19 with 5, still was not enough as the Cougars fell 41-50.

Against the PSA Cardinals, a tired Cougar squad fell behind early in the first half, but refocused their defensive effort in the second half and clawed back into the game.  Led by strong defensive rebounding by Sam Harris ‘19 and a hot hand by Lovelace who netted four 3’s in the second half, the Cougars took the lead late in the game. A clutch jumper by Lesburt sealed the victory 46-44.  The great competition and exciting games made for an enjoyable opening weekend for the boys.
