The Cardigan Varsity basketball team brought their high pressure game to the Wildcats of Kimball Union Academy. While the Cougars swarming defense gave the Wildcats plenty of trouble, causing several turnovers, it was the Wildcats success on the boards that proved the deciding factor in the first half.

The Proctor Hornet’s 3 point sharpshooters and big men battled Cardigan Varsity basketball’s high pressure full court press and tenacious defense. The Hornets took an early lead, which they maintained for most of the game.

Varsity Basketball Beats Vermont Academy
The Boy’s Varsity Basketball team had their first full game at home, against Vermont Academy, on Friday. The Wildcats from VA hit their first two shots of the game and jumped out to a quick, early lead. A slightly rattled Cougar squad took some time to settle into their game but eventually climbed back with an effective full court press.

The Cougar’s Varsity basketball played an exciting game against a tough Lion squad from Exeter Academy. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, as the Cougars clawed their way back to keep within striking distance. The first half ended with the Cougars down 25-22.

Varsity Basketball had a busy opening weekend with back to back jamborees at home and at Eaglebrook. On Saturday, the Cougars hosted Tilton, Proctor, and New Hampton in their annual jamboree.
Varsity Basketball Competes in Eaglebrook Tournament
On Sunday morning, the Varsity Basketball team hopped in the van and traveled down to Eaglebrook for their opening season jamboree. The Cougars faced perennial powerhouse Rectory in the opening match. Rectory held the lead for most of the game with the Cougars pulling close several times but not having enough gas in the tank to go on a much needed scoring streak.
Cougars Outlast Eagles in Exciting Back-and-Forth Game
In an exciting finale with rival Eaglebrook, the Cougars traveled down to Deerfield to match up with the Eagles for the fourth time this season.
