The Varsity and JV teams combined their rosters and formed two teams in a jamboree with Holderness, Proctor, and KUA. The Varsity Lacrosse team went on the road again to Phillips Exeter for the win. The Cougars played hard but a little sloppy at times facing an athletic and scrappy team from Exeter. Varsity Lacrosse Goes on a Long Road Trip and Returns With a Win Over Westminster 15-7
The Cougars took to the road today for a long trip down to Westminster to take on the Marlets. The Cougars played well and really turned up the heat in the third quarter to get the 15-7 win. The whole team saw action today, and all played well. Of particular note, Peter Gilbert exploded today as he was on the end of several nice feeds scoring 9 goals on the day and dishing out an assist of his own

Cardigan Hosts Eaglebrook For a Nice Team Win
Saturday the Cougars hosted Eaglebrook School for the first of their two matchups this season. Cardigan came out clicking right off the first whistle. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead off of some quick transition play, great ball movement, and control of the face-off X with several leading to fast breaks. Cougars Travel to Groton and Pick up a Hard Fought 9-8 win
Varsity lacrosse traveled to Groton today to take on the Zebras. Cardigan played well despite being down a few key starters. The defense had to step up their game today with Groton making lots of strong off-ball plays early in the game. Cardigan struggled early to match Groton at the face-off X but battled all day and even got some key help from the attack on the ride after faceoff wins by Groton.

Varsity Lacrosse Stumbles Late in the Game Falling to Belmont Hill 9-6
Cardigan came out a little slow but controlled the majority of the game on Saturday. Cardigan had their largest lead of the game at 6-3 in the fourth quarter. After several costly penalties and some mental mistakes, the Cougars allowed Belmont Hill to rattle off six unanswered goals, mostly while Cardigan was man down. On Wednesday the varsity lacrosse team came out of the gates ready to play. The boys worked hard all game vs. a very talented Deerfield team. Cougars Take on the Huskies on the Road and Bring Home the Win
Varsity lacrosse traveled to New Hampton School on Monday to take on the Huskies. The Cougars quickly took control of the game with some quick and skillful play. The Cougars controlled the tempo of the game and led 10-0 at the half. In the third quarter, the Cougars were a little sloppy but regrouped in the fourth to maintain control of the game and go on to win 15-0.

Varsity lacrosse traveled to Proctor Academy yesterday for their first home game vs. Brewster Academy as the never-ending winter has continued well into the spring. Varsity lacrosse was back on the road today at Deerfield Academy for their third game of the season. The Cougars started off well with a nice defensive stop and the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars traded goals with Deerfield throughout the afternoon. Cardigan had a slow start playing too much defense and drawing a few too many penalties to dig themselves out of a hole. Despite this and some sloppy play at times the boys fought hard until the end, never giving up.

Varsity Lacrosse 9-8 Win over the Crimson Knights of Salisbury
Varsity lacrosse took to the field today in their 2018 season opener at Salisbury School. The Knights came out firing and took an early 1-0 lead after Cardigan played an extended period of solid defense. The Cougars took control next taking a 3-1 lead into the start of the second period. At the end of the first half, Cardigan had a 5-3 lead after trading goals back and forth with Salisbury.
